There are many trails located throughout Alabama, several of which offer a magnificent view. One of Alabama’s best trail views can be experienced on the King’s Chair Loop. For information about this scenic trail, take a look below.
King's Chair Loop is a 4.2 mile loop trail in Pelham at Oak Mountain State Park - Alabama's largest state park. It begins at the North Trailhead and follows the South Rim Trail (Blue Trail).
At the beginning, King's Chair Loop is an easy trail. However, while hiking, you'll notice it becomes a bit more challenging. You'll experience rocky terrain, in addition to steep inclines and steep declines. In terms of difficulty, King's Chair Loop has a moderate rating, which means it's perfect for most skill levels.
As you continue your hike, you'll eventually reach the 0.3-mile marker to King's Chair. Even though it might've seemed challenging to reach this point, you'll soon realize the hike was well worth it.
Eventually, you'll see the sign pointing to the King's Chair Overlook. From here, it's not much further until you get to experience one of Alabama's best views.
As soon as you reach the overlook, you'll notice a huge rock outcropping that resembles a chair. While sitting on top of it, many people feel like a king, hence the name, "King's Chair."
