Many people wonder how Wilderness Park's bamboo forest came about. As the story goes, Floyd Smith, one of the former landowners, planted a packet of exotic seeds he received in the mail. Over the years, the seeds have grown into the bamboo forest we have today. Some of the bamboo stalks are as tall as 60 feet.
