Ivy Green, which was built in 1820, is the birthplace of Helen Keller. Today, this charming historic home is operated as a museum that gives visitors an opportunity to see where the "First Lady of Courage" grew up. Visitors of Ivy Green will also get to see the famous water pump where Helen communicated with her teacher, Anne Sullivan, for the very first time.

Belle Mont Mansion is located just outside of Tuscumbia. However, it's still considered one of the town's most historic landmarks. It's a beautiful hilltop mansion that's also one of Alabama's most unique homes. What makes it unique is the fact that it's a Palladian-style home. You won't find many of these homes in the Deep South. Built in 1828, Alabama's Belle Mont Mansion is currently operated as a museum and offers guided tours.
