Listed below are 10 of the oldest church buildings in Alabama that have stood the test of time.
Established in 1904, St. Elizabeth Catholic Church is a stunning Spanish Revival-style church that's part of Greenville's East Commerce Street Historic District. During the time this church was built, it was one of the most expensive churches in Alabama. The total cost of the church was $10,000, which was a lot of money back then. The First Baptist Church of Montgomery was founded in 1829. The building's construction began in 1905 and was completed in 1923. This beautiful stone church is part of the Perry Street Historic District. (305 S Perry St)

Built in 1895, Shoal Creek Church is one of Alabama's last remaining log churches. It's located within the Talladega National Forest, along the Pinhoti Trail. Each Labor Day, the annual Sacred Harp singing event takes place at Shoal Creek Church and attracts visitors from near and far.

Robinson Springs United Methodist Church was founded in 1828, and its current sanctuary was built in 1845. Many of the original furnishings are still used today in this Greek Revival-style church. (5980 Main St)
St. Andrew's Episcopal Church is a Carpenter Gothic-style church that was built in 1853 by a group of slaves. This quaint church was declared a National Historic Landmark and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on the exact same day, which was November 7, 1973. St. Andrew's Episcopal Church is located 8 miles east of Demopolis, Alabama on U.S. Route 80.
