Alabama is home to many great spots just waiting to be discovered, including some of the Yellowhammer State’s most beautiful waterfalls. One waterfall in particular that’s worth discovering is Caney Creek Falls. For information about this waterfall, including how to reach it, take a look below.
Caney Creek Falls is one of Alabama's most beautiful hidden waterfalls. Unless they've seen the roadside sign, many people are unaware this waterfall even exists.
To reach Caney Creek Falls, which is tucked away inside North Alabama's William B. Bankhead National Forest, you'll simply take the Caney Creek Falls Trail. The length of this trail is 1.7 miles out and back, and it's great for all skill levels.
Address: County Road 2, Double Springs, AL 35553
The Caney Creek Falls Trail will lead you to the upper part of Caney Creek Falls, which drops 20 feet and is usually referred to as Upper Caney Creek Falls. This particular part of the waterfall is also one of Alabama's best swimming holes.
Another great feature of the upper part of Caney Creek Falls is you can walk behind it. There aren't many waterfalls in Alabama where you're able to do this.
To experience more beautiful scenery, you'll want to continue hiking down the creek. This additional hike will lead you to the lower portion of the waterfall, which is known as Lower Caney Creek Falls.
Overall, Caney Creek Falls is a wonderful spot to add to your summer bucket list. Also, because this waterfall is somewhat hidden, you just might have it all to yourself.
