How do you like your gumbo? With chicken and sausage? Seafood? With or without okra?
Lucky for anyone in South Alabama come the end of January, all options are on the table at the Gumbo & Alabama Slammer Festival, a fun winter event in Foley, Alabama.
Don’t care for gumbo? There’s plenty more to see, do, eat, and drink. Let’s take a look at what this annual winter event has in store.
The Gumbo & Alabama Slammer Festival takes place on the last Saturday of January in downtown Foley's beautiful Heritage Park.
Given the festival's name, expect the savory scents of gumbo to fill the air. Food vendors and trucks will have many varieties on hand, in addition to their other menu favorites.
People of legal age can opt for adult beverages to pair with their food, including Alabama Slammers, bloody marys, wine, and beer. Of course, there are many refreshing non-alcoholic choices, too.
Kids can enjoy a huge area full of games and activities, including a petting zoo of farmyard favorites. Meanwhile, there are contests and games for all ages to win cash or other prizes. Speaking of cash, note that this event is free to attend for anyone age 12 or younger and only $5 for those 13 and older.
You can keep up with the latest news about the event by following the organizers, Beach Life Events, on Facebook or visiting the Beach Life Events website.
