Growing up in a small Alabama town definitely has its ups and downs, but for the most part, it’s a great way to grow up. There are many different ways to tell whether or not you grew up in a small town, and I’ve listed 12 of these ways below.
1. Everyone always knew your business.
2. You never carried a key for your house because it was always left unlocked.
3. Everyone in town had the same doctor.
4. The town shut down every Friday night for the local high school football game.
5. You couldn't go to the grocery store without running into several people you knew.
6. You were always late because you were constantly getting stuck behind passing trains.
7. It was very normal to see kids riding bikes in the street because it was safe.
8. Driving to cities that actually had food establishments excited you.
9. If you missed church, members would give you a call to make sure everything was okay.
10. When you got your driver's license, you spent all day driving around town.
11. You can name everyone in your graduating class.
12. You had one of these in your small town, and you were always greeted by name.
