Alabama's Grand Canyon Of The East Looks Even More Spectacular In The Winter

As mentioned before, Alabama doesn’t typically receive a lot of snow. When it does, it’s truly beautiful! One area of the Yellowhammer State that’s used to receiving snow during the winter, even if just a little, is Little River Canyon National Preserve. Little River Canyon National Preserve, which covers more than 15,000 acres, is located atop Lookout Mountain in Fort Payne, Alabama and is one of the state's most beautiful nature spots. It's even more spectacular during the cold winter months.
The preserve's main feature is of course Little River Canyon, which is best known as the "Grand Canyon of the East." Even though this beautiful canyon, which is approximately 12 miles long, attracts numerous people during the warmer months, it's definitely seen its fair share of visitors after the arrival of winter.
Another feature of Little River Canyon National Preserve that attracts visitors from near and far is Little River Falls, which is one of the South's most recognizable and accessible waterfalls. Sure, this waterfall is gorgeous year-round, but when you see it surrounded by snow during the winter months, you'll be left in awe.
Many people visit Alabama's Little River Canyon National Preserve in wintertime for its amazing hiking opportunities, even if the trails are covered in snow. Snow or no snow, these trails offer beautiful scenery and great views of the canyon.
