When it comes to having fun, you won’t be disappointed in Alabama. The Yellowhammer State offers such a variety of fun things to see and do for all ages. With that being said, recently, WalletHub ranked Alabama as one of America’s least fun states. Listed below are seven reasons why that’s totally absurd.
1. Alabama is home to one of the world's most unique restaurants.
Pictured is the Rattlesnake Saloon, which is located off the beaten path in Tuscumbia, Alabama. It's situated inside a cave and there's no other restaurant in the world quite like it.
2. Dinosaurs can also be found roaming our great state.
Well, not really. Instead, four life-like dinosaurs can be found hiding in the woods at Barber Marina in Elberta, Alabama. They're a definite must-see for anyone who loves dinosaurs, especially kids.
3. Alabama's Gulf Coast beaches are some of the finest in the nation...and even world.
Each year, people travel from all across the nation, and even world, to visit our beautiful Gulf Coast beaches. With miles and miles of sugar-white sand and turquoise waters, our beaches are some of the best around.
4. Some of America's coolest caves can also be discovered here in Alabama.
Alabama has one of the highest cave densities in the nation. Pictured is DeSoto Caverns, which is believed to be America's first recorded cave. Because of its massive size, it's also known as Alabama's "Big Cave."
5. Alabama hosts some of the nation's best festivals.
Throughout the year, Alabama hosts a variety of festivals. Pictured is Mobile's famous Mardi Gras parade. Interestingly, Mobile is home to America's original Mardi Gras, which began in 1703.
6. No other state does outdoor recreation quite like Alabama.
Alabama is the perfect place for anyone who loves outdoor recreation. From hiking and swimming, to camping and rock climbing, there are all kinds of outdoor recreation offered here in the Yellowhammer State. Pictured is Cherokee Rock Village, which is one of America's best rock climbing destinations.
7. Alabama is home to some of the world's finest museums.
Several types of museums are located in Alabama, one of which is Huntsville's U.S. Space & Rocket Center. Often billed as "Earth's largest space museum", it welcomes thousands of visitors from around the world each year. The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is also home to Space Camp.
