At this park, visitors will get to experience something they never have before, and most likely never will, which is getting to explore a real bamboo forest. This bamboo forest in Alabama is a true hidden gem, and you can learn all about it below, in addition to the trail you’ll take to access it.
Wilderness Park, which was dedicated in 1982, is located in Prattville, Alabama. This park is very unique because it was the first-ever wilderness park to be developed within city limits inside the United States. It was also used for training purposes during the Vietnam era.
Another feature that makes this city park truly one of a kind is its bamboo forest. That's right! There's a real bamboo forest that's nestled inside Wilderness Park, and it'll remind you of a fairy tale.
Visitors can explore this bamboo forest via the Wilderness Park Bamboo Loop, which happens to be an easy, 0.4-mile trail.
On this trail, you'll have the unique experience of roaming along giant, towering bamboo stalks, some of which are as tall as 60 feet.
