For information about Eufaula, including the famous Christmas event it hosts each year, take a look below.
Eufaula is a charming town that's located in Barbour County. It's well known for its beautiful historic homes, especially at Christmastime.
It's no wonder the Eufaula Christmas tours are so popular, the historic homes go all out decorating in period style. And nothing makes a home (particularly a historic one) feel more charming than festive decorations.
Each year, the Eufaula Heritage Association hosts its Christmas Tour of Homes, which began in 2005. This year's event will take place typically in early December. A number of homes will be featured on the tour, including Shorter Mansion, its most famous home of all.
Shorter Mansion is a classic Revival-style home that was built in 1884. Tragically, it burned down in 1900 and has to be restored to its original grandeur. It was occupied by descendants of the original owners until the 1950s when it became a historic preservation property.
A couple of other popular homes on the Christmas Tour of Homes are the Plummer Home and the...
...Eufaula House.
Being in these homes fully decorated helps visitors imagine how festive and charming the holidays must have been during these historic periods.
You'll swear the homes on this tour have the most glittering Christmas lights in all of Alabama.
There is a small cost for the tour of the homes which goes back into the fund to preserve these buildings for many years to come. Keep an eye on the website for information about ticket prices and hours. Check out the historic home website for additional ticket information and the tour's complete schedule.
