What are some amazing fairy tale places in Alabama?

One of the best things about Alabama is just how storybook picturesque it is in plenty of places. While the notion of “fairy tale beautiful” is definitely subjective, there are some places that immediately come to mind when asked where they are. For example, in Fairhope, there’s a literal castle hidden in the woods. It’s called the Mosher Castle, and it’s a feast for the eyes for sure! In Birmingham, there’s another, even more epic castle called the Quinlan Castle, and it’s positively majestic. In Phil Campbell, there’s a breathtaking waterfall called Rainbow Falls tucked away inside Dismals Canyon. If you know where to look, you’ll find fairy-tale beauty everywhere. Take a look at this article for some more amazing storybook spots in Alabama.

Are there any secret hidden waterfalls in Alabama?

Well, we’re not so sure about “secret”, but there are definitely waterfalls here – and plenty of them! One of the more “secret” (read: secluded) ones include the breathtaking falls on the Walls of Jericho Trail, in Jackson County. It’s a notoriously challenging hike that leads you to an awe-inspiring waterfall cascading down into pristine waters below. It’s a six-and-a-half-mile out-and-back trail with quite the elevation gain, so make sure to plan accordingly and know your limitations. Should you make it to the falls, though, you’re in for a surreal and magical experience that you’ll want to keep returning to time and time again.

What are some of the best little-known wonders in Alabama?

Well, goodness. Where to begin! Alabama is a state filled with wonder, and our incredible landscapes and geology reflect that. Outside the William Bankhead Forest lurks an enchanting natural bridge, which spans an impressive 148 feet long and is 60 feet high. You can’t walk across or on it, but you can certainly admire it from below (and around). The Neversink Pit in Fackler is an intriguing natural mystery that will take your breath away; cave, or sinkhole? We don’t know, but it’s cool, and definitely worth a visit!
