Alabama is home to many beautiful and enchanting places. One of the state’s most enchanting places is Aldridge Gardens, which is located in the city of Hoover. Aldridge Gardens opened on June 1, 2002. Over the years, it's become one of Alabama's top outdoor attractions.
This 30-acre property once belonged to well-known horticulturist Eddie Aldridge and his wife, Kay. In 1994, the Aldridges transferred the property to the city of Hoover to be used as a public garden.
Aldridge Gardens features a variety of gorgeous hydrangeas, including the Snowflake Hydrangea. This special hydrangea was discovered by Mr. Aldridge and his father in 1969. In 1971, they patented it. The Snowflake Hydrangea is Hoover's official flower.
Aldridge Gardens is one of Alabama's most popular wedding venues. The property is also used to host other types of events throughout the year, including festivals, art exhibits and seminars.
Aldridge Gardens is located at 3530 Lorna Road, Hoover, AL 35216. Admission is free. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. There's also a members-only hour, which is 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
