A brand-new restaurant in Huntsville, Alabama, is taking trash talk to an epic level. Trashy Dawg – Epic Chicken & Booze Room opened in the city’s Bridge Street Town Centre outdoor shopping community in late August 2023. It’s a first-of-its-concept sister brand to the taco trendsetter Agave & Rye, which has its lone Alabama location at Bridge Street. In case you’re wondering, the 15 are in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and Tennessee. Local diners have strongly supported that concept, eagerly anticipating what Kentucky-based parent company Epic Brands would serve them next.
So what is this trash, anyway? The reports are rolling in that it's the tastiest of the trash, the most joyful of junk food.
Promising to take you on a "trashy yet classy journey," Trashy Dawg has a wildly lively interior. The indoor area is injected with heavy doses of bold patterns and pop culture. Your eyes will be drawn immediately to the oversized Hot Lips, edgy art, and the short-shorts seating, which make for some hilarious photo ops.
There's plenty of standard outdoor seating, too – probably the best choice for those who may not be feeling the short shorts on any given day. It's definitely a mood. It's up to you where you want to park it to devour an epic-sized smash burger piled with pimento cheese and bacon. And maybe a spiked shake, too.
Trashy Dawg offers a couple of smash burgers in different sizes, a plant-based burger, and sandwiches featuring crispy chicken (standard or hot) and short ribs. As you might imagine, the toppings trash these up in tasty ways. Take the Jethro, which tops short ribs with crushed Doritos, mac and cheese, sweet and spicy bacon, and lettuce.
The restaurant also features the most current touch-screen ordering technology, so patrons can peruse the menu and place their orders independently.
There are four types of hot dogs, including the signature Trashy Dawg. It comes on a pretzel bun with pimento cheese, barbecue sauce, white onion, mustard, and dill chips. Chicken tenders and wings round out the savory options and come with a choice of six dips and six sauces.
Choose among eight shakes, which you can order boozy or non-boozy. There is also soft serve in a cup or cone, banana pudding, cookies, cookies, and cupcakes. Then there are the half dozen different "Trashy Eclaffles." They consist of cream-filled pastry or cake decorated with drizzle, dusted with sugar, and covered with crumbles. For example, the Fruity Pattouti features pastry stuffed with Bavarian cream, frosted with strawberry icing and sprinkled with colored marshmallows and Fruity Pebbles cereal.
It’s definitely leveraging low-brow with luxury – and a heaping helping of humor. You can view the full menu on the Trashy Dawg website and get the latest news on the Trashy Dawg Facebook page.
There’s a lot more to explore and excellent shopping at Bridge Street and in the surrounding area, so it’d be an excellent home base for a getaway. For an unquestionably upscale place to stay nearby, consider Element Huntsville.
