Without a doubt, Alabama’s hikes don’t disappoint! In fact, hikers from around the world travel to our state to experience its amazing trails. While some of the trails are long and strenuous, others are short and offer incredibly scenic views. One trail in particular is the Doug Ghee Accessible Trail, which you can read all about below.
Cheaha State Park, which opened to the public in 1933, is located in the tiny town of Delta. It's situated atop Cheaha Mountain, Alabama's highest natural point.
One of the park's most popular features is the Doug Ghee Accessible Trail, which is best known as the Bald Rock Boardwalk. It's open daily until sundown and is accessible year-round.
The Doug Ghee Accessible Trail is a 0.6-mile out and back trail, making it one of Alabama's shortest hikes. This short and sweet hike is also perfect for people of all abilities.
While embarking on this boardwalk trail, visitors will get to experience some of Cheaha Mountain's most beautiful scenery.
The Doug Ghee Accessible Trail ends at the Bald Rock Overlook, which is home to one of Cheaha Mountain's best views.
While at this popular overlook, you'll quickly understand why so many people travel from near and far to experience its view. You'll be able to see for miles and miles, and the view is truly spectacular...
...even at sunset!
