Alabama is home to several covered bridges. While some are still easily accessible for drivers, others can only be viewed and admired. One area of the state where you’ll find some of Alabama’s most beautiful covered bridges is in Blount County, which is known as the “Covered Bridge Capital of Alabama.” Each year, a festival is held in Blount County to honor these covered bridges, which you can read all about below.
The 36th Annual Blount County Covered Bridge Festival is scheduled to take place October 26, 2019, in Oneonta, Alabama. It's the perfect fall event!
The Horton Mill Covered Bridge was built in 1934 and is 220 feet long. With a clearance of 70 feet above the Black Warrior River, it's also one of the highest-standing covered bridges in the U.S.

...and the Swann Covered Bridge. Each of these covered bridges are beautiful and a huge part of Alabama's history.
The Blount County Covered Bridge Festival will also have several arts and crafts vendors onsite, in addition to food vendors, a variety of children's activities, and so much more.
