This Bird's Eye View Of Alabama's Smith Lake Will Drop Your Jaw
Some of the most beautiful and easily accessible lakes in the country are located right here in Alabama. One lake in particular that stands out among the rest is Lewis Smith Lake, more commonly known as Smith Lake.
Smith Lake, located on the Sipsey Fork of the Black Warrior River, stretches for 36 miles and covers more than 21,000 acres in the following three counties: Cullman County, Walker County and Winston County. This Alabama lake is rated second cleanest lake in the U.S. dammed lake system, and it’s a sportsman’s paradise—offering a variety of outdoor recreational activities such as boating, swimming, fishing, water skiing, jet skiing and paddleboarding. Many campsites also surround the lake.
Sure, all of these features are great, but what’s really responsible for Smith Lake standing out among other lakes are the incredible scenic views—both ground level and aerial.
Listed below are three aerial shots of Smith Lake that were beautifully captured by David Warren, professional photographer and owner of Cullman Aerial Photography.
The following video, also created by David Warren, features amazing aerial views of Smith Lake.
Have you ever experienced Smith Lake? If yes, what did you think? Did it live up to its hype? If you’ve never experienced Smith Lake, it’s not too late to add it to your summer bucket list. You’ll be so happy you did!
