Birmingham, incorporated in 1871, is the largest city in Alabama and the county seat of Jefferson County. Because of Birmingham's numerous museums and art galleries, it's been called the "Cultural and Entertainment Capital of Alabama." Dining, retail and cultural options are continuously increasing in Birmingham. Some of the popular attractions in this Alabama city include the Birmingham Zoo, Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Vulcan, the world's largest cast iron statue.

Montgomery, incorporated in 1819, is the capital of Alabama and the county seat of Montgomery County. Many of the old warehouses and buildings downtown have been transformed into high-end loft apartments, restaurants, hotels and businesses. Downtown Montgomery also offers, for those interested in history, attractions such as the State Capitol Building and Dexter Baptist Church, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was once a pastor.

Founded in 1702, Mobile is the county seat of Mobile County and is Alabama's only saltwater port. Mobile is home to several art museums, a symphony orchestra, a professional opera and Battleship Memorial Park. Many beautiful historic neighborhoods are located throughout Mobile.

Huntsville was established in 1809 and is the county seat of Madison County. Auburn was incorporated in 1839 and is located in Lee County. This Alabama city is home to Auburn University and offers many cultural and recreational opportunities.
