The Talmadge Butler Boardwalk Trail is located within Fort Payne's DeSoto State Park. It's 360 yards long and provides enjoyment for hikers of all abilities.
This special boardwalk trail was built in 1997 by the local community and headed by Talmadge Butler, the former park superintendent. It was formerly known as "Azalea Cascade Trail."
The Talmadge Butler Boardwalk Trail meanders through wooded slopes, which hikers can't get enough of. They love being surrounded by lots of natural scenic beauty.
In addition to hiking, many visitors enjoy bird watching as they stroll along the trail. After all, it's part of the Alabama Birding Trail's North Alabama Trail.
