One of Alabama’s most challenging trails is the James M. Scott Deadening Alpine Trail, which you can read all about below.
The James M. Scott Deadening Alpine Trail is a popular hiking trail that's located in Tallapoosa County, Alabama near Dadeville.

This 4.2-mile loop trail, which is quite challenging, will lead you through a forest.
It also provides a great view of Lake Martin, which is Alabama's largest man-made lake.
While hiking the James M. Scott Deadening Alpine Trail, you'll experience lots of rocky terrain and endure several steep inclines.
You'll also encounter a few unique rock formations, including the Needles Eye, the cliffs of the Tallapoosa River, and Jasmine Bluff.
Hiking the James M. Scott Deadening Alpine Trail will also give you a great view of Acapulco Rock. This is a popular cliff jumping spot, especially during the summer months.
If you do decide to hike the James M. Scott Deadening Alpine Trail, keep in mind that it's not recommended for children because of its level of difficulty. However, dogs are allowed on the trail as long as they're kept on a leash. So, be sure to bring your canine companion(s) along for an unforgettable hiking experience.
