5. Inventing everyday items.
Many everyday items were invented by Alabamians, including windshield wipers by Mary Anderson and the air bag by George Kirchoff.
6. Embracing quirkiness.
From one-of-a-kind statues to whimsical tree carvings, Alabama boasts several quirky items...and we couldn't be prouder.
7. Growing peanuts.
Here in Alabama, peanut growing is a huge deal, especially in Dothan. In fact, Dothan is known as the "Peanut Capital of the World." The city also hosts the nation's largest peanut festival each year.
8. Exploring the outdoors.
Alabama is home to some of the nation's finest hiking trails, best lakes and rivers, most majestic mountains, and beautiful beaches, so it's no surprise we love the outdoors so much.
9. Manufacturing vehicles.
Over the years, Alabama has become an important part of automotive production. A variety of manufacturing plants are located throughout the state.
