It’s no secret that Alabama is home to many beautiful lakes. Some of these lakes are well known, whereas others are a bit underrated. Of all the lakes in Alabama, one of the most underrated lakes is Lake Lurleen. This beautiful lake is perfect for a summer day!
Lake Lurleen, which is located just outside of Tuscaloosa, is a man-made lake that covers 250 acres. It's named after Lurleen Wallace - Alabama's first female governor. Lake Lurleen is also the main feature of Lake Lurleen State Park.
From boating and fishing, to swimming and canoeing, Lake Lurleen offers a variety of fun things to do on a summer day.
There's also a sandy beach area that's perfect for rest and relaxation while still catching some rays.
When it comes time to eat, there are also several picnic tables surrounding Lake Lurleen. These shaded areas are a great place to eat, relax and experience a great view of the lake.
If you wish to stay the weekend, there are 91 modern campsites and six primitive campsites available. You'll love camping on the banks of Lake Lurleen.
