When one thinks of Baltimore, they usually envision the harbor and crabby restaurants. Trains are probably the last thing on anyone’s mind, but they’re here, and they’re magnificent. Check out the following Baltimore attraction that’s full of history and will give you an unforgettable ride.
The B & O Railroad Museum is located on West Pratt Street.
This beautiful building dates back to 1953 and has the most impressive collection of 19th century locomotives in the entire US.
The centerpiece of the massive roundhouse is the turntable. It's fully functional and sometimes rotates for demonstration purposes.
Lovers of trains will adore exploring the grounds, seeing historic locomotives up close.
Or if you're feeling extra adventurous, opt to take a 20 minute train ride. You'll travel along the first commercial mile of railroad track laid in America, for a unique step back in time. Cost is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
Make things extra interesting by visiting on a themed-day. Riding the rails while dressed as a super hero is sure to make you feel powerful...
And the annual Wizard Train is full of magic.
