There are so many towns scattered throughout central Maryland, it’s easy to bypass some of the gems while on your way to another destination. The following town is located right off of Route 70 and it’s worth stopping by for its old town charm, history, and scenic views.
Mount Airy is spread out between both Carroll and Frederick county. It looks like another ordinary historic Maryland town, but it has unique qualities worth exploring.
Railroad history thrives here. In fact, the name Mount Airy belonged to an Irish B&O worker from decades past.
The downtown area is full of family-friendly events. From parades, to farmers markets, and festivals.
The boutiques offer a one-of-a-kind shopping experience.
Ditch the mall and shop local. You're sure to find all sorts of local goods, handmade items, home decor, and more.
If you're feeling famished, this town has got you covered. You can find Italian, Hibachi, tavern food, or whatever else your tummy is craving.
If it's an outdoorsy adventure you seek, head to the nearby rail trails.
Drive a bit further and spend a day at a rustic farm...
Or sip the day away at one of several Mount Airy wineries. Pictured below is Elk Run Vineyard
and it's picture perfect for a summer day.
This is one charming Maryland town you won't want to pass by. Soak in the delightfully quaint atmosphere if you're ever in the area.
