It is almost that time, the 4th of July. Since DC is the capital of the country, you better believe that there is plenty to do in the area for the holiday. The biggest celebration in the district draws plenty of crowds but never disappoints. The fireworks are launched from the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and are visible all over the District. You can make a day of it by coming out early and staking out a spot on the lawn. If you choose to be near the Capitol Building, you can listen to the Capitol Fourth Concert, which starts at 3pm.

Experience patriotic celebrations right on the water in Annapolis! The celebrations kick off at 6:30pm with a 4th of July Parade featuring marching bands, fire engines and local organizations. The United States Naval Academy Band takes the stage at 8pm at Susan Campbell Park for a public concert before the most epic fireworks show at 9:15. The fireworks are launched form a barge in Annapolis Harbor. The best viewing areas include public areas of northeast of the Severn River, on City Dock and any street-end parks that face Spa Creek.

In the heart of downtown Baltimore at the Inner Harbor, Baltimore’s Fourth of July Celebration features live music and fireworks. At 7pm the festivities begin with live music fro the Commodores U.S. Navy Jazz Ensemble at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater at Pratt and Light streets. The fireworks show kicks off at 9:30pm. The show can be viewed from several locations in the area including Federal Hill, Canton, Fell’s Point and Harbor East.

Vienna celebrates the holiday with a day of fun, food and fireworks! Vienna’s Americana celebration starts at 6:30pm at Yeonas Park. There is a pie eating contest for kids and a hot dog eating contest for adults. There will also be food available for purchase for those not wishing to participate in the contests! Live music by Vienna’s rock band Fat Chance will begin at 7:15pm. Fireworks are launched from Southside Park starting at 9:30pm.

Historic downtown Manassas is throwing an all-American party! The party begins at 3pm near the Harris Pavilion and the Manassas Museum. There will be rides, a bicycle decorating contest, pie baking contest and watermelon eating contest. The fireworks will take place at 9:15pm and visitors can bring lawn chairs and blankets. If you want the best view, you purchase tickets to the rooftop party where you can enjoy food, games, photo booth and the best views of the fireworks from the top of the parking garage.

July 1st, Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm. Lawn party including live music, games and classic car show begin at 5pm. Fireworks spectacular begins at 9:30pm.

Kensington, MD

Albert Einstein High School, 11135 Newport Road, Kensington MD. Entertainment beings at 7:30 and fireworks show will begin approximately at 9:15pm.

Laurel, MD

July 1st, 2017. There is a parade at 11am and fireworks begin at dusk.

Poolesville, MD

July 4th, Poolesville Polo Ground. Live music begins at 6pm and fireworks begin at 9pm. Parking is $5 per vehicle.

July 4th, Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park. Live entertainment begins at 7pm and fireworks at 9:15pm.

June 30-July 4th, Kings Dominion. Live entertainment by military bands and extended fireworks shows every night. Free admission for retired and active military personnel.

July 4th, Fairfax High School. Music begins at 7pm and fireworks begin at dark.

Falls Church, VA

July 4th, George Mason High School. Live music begins at 7pm and fireworks follow at 9:20pm.

Herndon, VA

July 4th, Bready Park. Celebrations begin at 6:30pm including games and entertainment and fireworks begin at 9:30 pm.

July 4th, Ida Lee Park. Independence Day Parade is at 10am, live music starts at 6pm and fireworks follow at 9:30pm.

July 4th, Churchill Road Elementary School. Grounds open at 6:30pm and fireworks begin approximately 9:15pm.

Mount Vernon Estate, VA

June 30-July 1st, Mount Vernon Estate. Admission is $30 per adult and $20 per child. They will also display daytime fireworks on July 4th.
