Indiana is full of neat and interesting parks and nature preserves that are particularly great for exploring in the spring and summertime. From the Indiana Dunes to the wonders of Brown County, there are plenty of beautiful sites to check out in our fair state. However, there’s one park that might just be the most unique park in the state that you absolutely have to check out.
Spring Mill State Park is a breathtaking 1,300+ acre state park located in Mitchell, Indiana. It's easily one of Indiana's most unique locations and is filled with incredible activities.
This charming state park contains four interpretive facilities to explore: Pioneer Village, the Nature Center, Grissom Memorial, and the Twin Caves, as well as some other incredible surprises.

In Pioneer Village, visitors will step back in time to a much simpler way of life. The main attraction here is the operational grist mill where visitors can experience grinding cornmeal up close. There are a total of 20 different historical buildings to explore in this section of the park and you're likely to see time appropriate crafts (like weaving) taking place here.

The Nature Center is a great place for children to learn more about the area's wildlife and plant species. Here you'll find live animal displays with snakes and a turtle, as well as various children's exhibits and activities.
The Grissom Memorial celebrates Hoosier born astronaut Gus Grissom and includes exciting exhibits, like the Gemini 3 spacecraft, Grissom's own spacesuit, and other memorabilia and artifacts from Grisson's space explorations.
