1. Breezy Point
Breezy Point Beach is in Calvery County, Maryland, and gives Washingtonians a beautiful quiet beach just off the Chesapeake Bay. There’s half a mile of beautiful sand, a 200-foot fishing pier, a playground, beach volleyball court shaded areas, picnic tables and grills. You can also camp nearby!
2. Matapeake State Park
This beach is perfect for dog lovers! Located on Kent Island in Queen Anne’s County, there is actually a designated dog beach here. You can picnic, relax on the people-only beach or walk your pup on the pet trail. Parking is $10 per vehicle.
3. Bay Front Park
Less than an hour from DC, Bay Front Park is just outside the charming town of Chesapeake Beach. It’s a small but beautiful beach. There’s a boardwalk that leads to it and it’s a perfect place to avoid crowds.
4. North Beach
North Beach is called "The Jewel of the Chesapeake." It’s a cute little beach town with a boardwalk, cafes, bars and a wildlife refuge nearby. You can rent umbrellas, kayaks or bikes during your visit. The town also hosts many summertime activities including movie nights and concerts.
5. Colonial Beach
Two hours away from DC in Virginia is Colonial Beach. Drive on town to this little town on the Potomac River and relax on their beautiful beach! There’s a fishing pier, boat rentals and lots to do in town!
6. Hammerman Beach
Hammerman Beach is located inside of Gunpowder Falls State Park. It’s quite popular with locals so you might want to get there early. However it’s worth it! There’s a boat launch, kayak rental and a concession stand.
