Where are some fun places to swim in Indiana?
Indiana is a beautiful state with so many breathtaking places to swim that it’s totally nuts! Some of our favorites include legendary Indiana swim spots like the crystal-clear waters of Indiana Dunes State Park and the awe-inspiring Lake Monroe. We’re also partial to smaller, less-appreciated swim spots like Lake Shafer, which a lot of Hoosiers and tourists ignore in favor of the epic Indiana Beach water park nearby. Fowler Park Lake is a hidden swimming hole in Terre Haute that you need to see to believe, and we also really love Kemil Beach, which is nearby Indiana Dunes State Park. What are the best swimming holes in Indiana?
There are so many that it’s difficult to narrow it down to just a few, but we can certainly try. In Fort Wayne, you can take a dip in the beautiful and quite clean Fox Island Pond, or maybe you’d like to go to Muncie and dive into the beautiful Prairie Creek Reservoir. Evansville is home to Scales Lake, a very crisp and clear body of water perfect for cooling off in the hotter months. You can’t miss Logansport’s France Park, either – each of these places is perfect, and they’re not the only ones!
What can I do for outdoor recreation in Indiana?
Outdoor recreation in Indiana is a total blast. How lucky we are to live in a state with so much incredibly beautiful scenery, right? In Indiana, you can enjoy all kinds of fun outdoor activities, like hiking, fishing, swimming, camping, and even hunting. You can also go chasing waterfalls (disregard that hit song from the 90s, you can totally chase waterfalls) because Indiana has dozens. Some are year-round and breathtaking; others are at their best after a good solid rain event. You can go zip-lining, horseback riding, scavenger hunting, or even poking around the woods for your own food, like tasty morel mushrooms in the spring and summer.
