The twelve-room schoolhouse catered to elementary school children until 1920, when a kindergarten was added to the school.

However, by 1939 the school was considered too small for the area's growing population.

When WWII veterans began returning from overseas, the school helped the soldiers readjust to their new lives as civilians.
