Everyone who lives here knows how underrated Delaware is! From our beaches that get overlooked for the Jersey Shore, to our seafood that gets passed over for Maryland crab shacks, there’s a lot about Delaware that people don’t quite notice. While we love keeping our state secrets to ourselves, sometimes we’ve got to stand up and say “Hey! Look over here, we’ve got it goin’ on!”
Here’s a list of what we have to offer that shows just how underrated Delaware can be.
Forget the crowded Jersey Shore - Delaware's beaches are consistently named the cleanest in the country. Combined with the nightlife in Dewey, the family-friendly activites of Bethany Beach, and the all around fun of Rehoboth Beach, there's no reason to go anywhere else.
Bowers Beach, Slaughter Beach and every little town along the bay bring charm, serenity, and great dining to Delaware. See a side of nature that you've never seen before when you enjoy our tidal marshlands, and eat at a restaurant where you can park your boat!
Firefly gets all the press, but the Bethany Beach Art Festival, the Dewey Music Festivals, and all of the food festivals like the Bacon Fest and Apple Scrapple mean that there's always so much to do in Delaware!
Delaware's fresh-caught crabs and oysters are some of the best in the country, but because we're a small state, we keep it cheap! Fill up on filler-free fried crabcakes without having to auction off a kidney at many of our charming and delicious cafes and bars.
Wilmington's nightlife in Trolley Square and Rodney Square is the place to be if you want a great drink and a fun night out with friends. Newark is a blast, too, if you want to bar hop along Main Street!
Georgetown is full of history and great food, Laurel is surrounded by natural beauty, and Odessa is like stepping back in time to the 1800s! Visit our small towns to see all of the endless discoveries that the First State can show off.
