Spring is unofficially “wine season” in Washington, when events like the Yakima Valley’s Spring Barrel Tasting and Walla Walla’s Spring Release Weekend reminds us that Washington wine is truly amazing and we should all be drinking it. But what is also amazing is the beauty of the wineries themselves – many of them make gorgeous destinations for their architecture and landscaping, with delicious vino being an added bonus.
You’ll find visually stunning wineries all around the state, and these 10 happen to be especially beautiful.
1. Terra Blanca Winery & Estate Vineyard, 34715 N Demoss Rd., Benton City
Perched up high on a hill with sweeping views of the valley, Terra Blanca is beautiful inside and out. Their tasting room is open daily all year long, and the onsite Terra Blanca Vineyard Grill serves delicious cuisine.
Talk about the ultimate relaxing getaway. Cave B Estate Winery & Resort sells their award-winning private label wine, which you can sip before heading to your luxurious guest room or yurt.
Amavi Cellars also has a beautiful tasting room in Woodinville, so you have two chances to taste their top notch vino. The Walla Walla winery is just a 10 minute drive from downtown, but you'll feel like you're on a rural vacation.
4. Chateau Ste Michelle Winery, 14111 NE 145th St., Woodinville
One of Washington's most famous wineries is also one of the most picturesque. From the elegant tasting room to the charming gift shop to the summer concerts in the yard, this is a day trip destination for wine lovers and non-drinkers alike.
Maryhill has won numerous awards, including the 2015 Pacific NW Winery of the Year. They offer tastings, tours, free live music and even a summer concert series.
The entire property here is gorgeous and majestic, making you feel like you've been transported to Italian wine country. Come for the wine, stay for the views and the incredible food served at Sorrento's.
Situated in the Rattlesnake Hills of the Yakima Valley, spending time at Bonair Winery is incredibly pleasant. From the friendly team to the adorable ducks in the pond, the atmosphere is topped only by the tasty (and affordable!) wine.
8. Whidbey Island Vineyard & Winery, 5237 Langley Rd., Langley
It really doesn't get much better than this. Sipping wine on the patio of this charming vineyard on one of Washington's most beautiful islands makes for an idyllic afternoon.
With a breathtaking vineyard in the Red Mountain area and tasting rooms both there and in Woodinville, the team at Col Solare certainly stays busy. They love having visitors and sometimes host events for wine lovers.
Best known for their beautiful inn, the Abeja winery property is perfectly picturesque. Due to their limited production, they offer tastings only to their list members and overnight guests - but it's well worth booking a stay here.
This is a small sample of the breathtaking beauty that awaits you at Washington’s wineries. Here’s a longer list of picturesque places to visit and taste.
