Summer is right around the corner, and you’re either super excited or dreading it. Florida summers are a double-edged sword. The good thing is you finally have time to put away all of the devices, shut off the TV, and get everyone outside. The bad thing is when you walk outside, it’s so hot you feel like you’re going to melt. Don’t worry, we’ve selected some awesome activities for you to try this summer that are both fun and cool (literally):
1. Ichetucknee Springs State Park
Tubing the Ichetucknee is a popular Florida pastime and the perfect way to cool off in the summer heat. 12087 US-27, Fort White, FL 32038
2. Volcano Bay, Orlando
You know that 200-foot-tall volcano you've been seeing every time you visit Orlando? That's an unmistakable sign that summer is almost here, along with Universal's newest park, Volcano Bay. This waterpark is designed to resemble a tropical paradise, and we can't wait to check it out on opening day, May 25th. 7083-7133 Turkey Lake Rd, Orlando, FL 32819
3. Florida Caverns State Park, Marianna
With the only open-air caves in Florida that offer tours to the public, this state park is a good choice for summer because the temperature in the underground caves is considerably cooler than up above. 3345 Caverns Rd, Marianna, FL 32446
4. Typhoon Lagoon, Orlando
Typhoon Lagoon is another park in the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando. This one made to look like a tropical paradise that has been hit by a huge storm. It features one of the world's largest outdoor wave pools. Walt Disney World Resort, 1145 East Buena Vista Boulevard, Orlando, FL 32830
5. Wakulla Springs State Park
Near Tallahassee lies one of the largest and deepest freshwater springs in the world, swimmers can find an observation and diving platform at the head of the spring. The on-site Wakulla Lodge offers unique accommodations in a historic 1930s hotel. 465 Wakulla Park Dr, Crawfordville, FL 32327
6. Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor, Dania Beach
There's nothing like ice cream on a sweltering day. A visit to Jaxson's might just be the highlight of your summer. Serving tons of locals and tourists since 1956, Jaxon's has walls full of memorabilia and some very creative (and huge) ice cream creations. 128 S Federal Hwy, Dania Beach, FL 33004
7. Blizzard Beach, Orlando
Blizzard Beach is at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando. The whole park was made to look like a ski resort that melted into a water park! Walt Disney World Resort, 1534 Blizzard Beach Drive, Orlando, FL 32830
8. Weeki Wachee Springs State Park
Take the kids for a summer road trip down to this classic Florida attraction. Catch a mermaid show, but also be sure to bring bathing suits for the small water park on the springs, Buccaneer Bay. 6131 Commercial Way, Weeki Wachee Spings State Park, Spring Hill, FL 34606
9. Adventure Island, Tampa
This 30-acre water park in Tampa is right across from Busch Gardens, so it's a perfect vacation combo. 10001 N Malcolm McKinley Dr, Tampa, FL 33612
10. LEGOLAND waterpark
Fans of the colorful toy bricks will adore the Legoland Waterpark in Winter Haven. This park is very charming and has something fun for every age group. 1 Legoland Way, Winter Haven, FL 33884
11. De Leon Springs State Park
Guests can swim in this historic park (where Ponce De Leon was believed to have visited) at depths up to 30 feet. Children and weak swimmers must stay with an adult swimmer at all times. Start your day pouring your own pancakes at your table at The Old Spanish Sugar Mill. It's located about 30 minutes from Daytona. 601 Ponce Deleon Blvd, De Leon Springs, FL 32130
How many of these awesome attractions have you visited? What’s your favorite way to beat the heat in summer?
