Heading to the beach and sinking your feet into powdery, white sand is a feeling like no other. We here in Massachusetts are blessed to have miles and miles of amazing shoreline at our disposal, but not everywhere offers perfectly white and pristine sand.

If you’re seeking some luxuriously soft sand and unbeatable views, this spot is it. Chatham Lighthouse Beach may not be a secret to Cape Codders or summer visitors, but many people in the rest of the state aren’t aware that this coastal gem is within reach.

Chatham Lighthouse Beach boasts some of the silkiest, whitest sand anywhere in the state.

Its gorgeous sandbars and turquoise water makes this beach look like something from a Caribbean postcard.

The water is an almost tropical blueish green, and the sand is absolutely immaculate. Soft, powdery expanses of sand stretch between gently waving swathes of silvery beach grass. You really can’t get more picture-perfect Cape Cod than this place.
The shallow depths around the shore mean that the water heats up here early in the season, so you can cram in as many beach days as possible.

This beach is also good for families, as some areas of the beach offer large shallow areas and gentle slopes into deeper water.

However, there can be quite a strong current at certain times so it’s always best to stick together in the water. There is a roped-off swimming area that shows you where it’s safest to take a dip.

It’s literally steps from the sand and one of the most picturesque lights on the Cape.

You can also get some pretty decent clamming done here during the season. It makes for a great beach activity that isn’t just laying in the sun or tossing a ball around…though those are pretty fantastic pursuits.
No matter how you spend your time here, you'll be charmed by the pure white sand and gorgeous vistas.

The beach has a unique parking scheme. You can park literally right in front of the beach for up to 30 minutes if you’re just looking to snap some pictures and do some sightseeing. If you’re looking to enjoy the beach to its fullest (and we recommend it), then you’ll have to park a bit further away.
