Do you love American history, but you can’t exactly afford a trip to Washington right now? If you’re a history buff, there’s a little-known attraction in Central Florida that you probably never heard of but need to check out.
The Presidents Hall of Fame in Clermont (previously the House of Presidents) is a small but impressive museum devoted to all things Presidential.
Here you will find wax figures, miniatures and artifacts that bring American history to life. This classic Florida roadside attraction has been here for decades and was even called "true national treasure" by Ronald Reagan.
Outside, you can take advantage of some pretty cool photo opportunities, with a smaller version of Mount Rushmore and the Statue of Liberty. In fact, the front of the museum features a miniature version Lincoln Memorial.
Perhaps the most famous feature of the museum is an incredibly detailed replica of the White House. The back was left open so that you can actually see into each room, including all of the ones you won't get to see on a real White House tour.
The museum was adapted from a presidential wax museum in 1960, and you can still see the models of the presidents in all sizes, from life-size to tiny miniatures.
When you visit the Presidents Hall of Fame, don't miss out on the Citrus Tower right next door. There, you'll get an awesome view of eight surrounding counties. Unfortunately, you won't see the view of orange groves it was once designed for, but it's still an impressive sight.
The Presidents Hall of Fame is located at 123 S Hwy 27, Clermont, FL 34711. It’s open Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 4:00 p.m.
