12 Words And Phrases People In Texas Just Don't Understand
In Texas, we have our own unique language, and therefore have a hard time understanding words and phrases from different parts of the country. If you utter any of these words in Texas, we will all know you ain’t from ’round these parts.

Nope, all soft drinks = Coke in Texas. And then we'll specify what kind we want if we're asked.

Here, we call this nifty little invention a "buggy."

I have never once heard a Texan say "you guys." That would just be a disgrace to our state, and a dead giveaway you're not from here.

Ummm...you mean a sub?

We call this flowing body of water what it is...a creek. If you say crick to us, we will think you're talking about a painful feeling in your neck.

Pretty much equally annoying to us as "you guys" is yinz, because y'all is the only proper way to address multiple people at a time. Duh.

This might sound more interesting than a water fountain, but we just prefer to call things like we see them. If you say bubbler, we will definitely chuckle, though.

Elsewhere in the country, dinner = the last meal of the day. Here, dinner = lunch, and supper = dinner. I mean, that makes so much more sense anyway.

Another phrase that will elicit laughter on our part, here we would just say "Are you serious?" or "Yeehaw!" to explain our excitement.

Who are those people? It's "Momma" and "Daddy" where we come from.

If you ask for "jimmies" on anything here, we will just smile, nod, and pretend like we know what you're saying. But they will always be sprinkles to us.
