Every year Michigan business reporters watch closely when Forbes releases its “World’s Billionaires List,” and with good reason. Without fail, Michigan’s richest people make the list as industry titans, powerful heirs and guru innovators. Here are the 10 richest Michiganders, according to this year’s Forbes list.
The founder of Quicken Loans, owner of the Cleveland Cavalier and a real estate mogul who's used some of his fortune to buy up dozens of downtown Detroit properties, Gilbert is worth $4.7 billion and ranks 341st in the world.

Midwest superstore chain Meijer C-CEO Hank and brother Doug, the company's Co-Chair, came in at No. 1 richest in Michigan this year, ranking them at 118th worldwide. They're worth $10.7 billion.
This Top 10 list obviously fluctuates. Ambassador Bridge owner Manuel “Matty” Moroun was booted from the top ranking, as was Manoj Bhargava, founder of the 5-Hour Energy Shot. Alfred Taubman, iconic mall developer and philanthropist, came in at No. 6 wealthiest Michigan native, according to Forbes, however, he died earlier this month.
