This winter and spring here in Denver has been sporadic at best… wouldn’t you agree? We have seen so many days in the upper 70s/lower 80s, followed by one chilly day of rain, then a gorgeous day in the 60s, and so on. If you have a kids like I do, then you pine for the warm days when you can break free from the confines of your home and escape to one of these 6 amazing Denver-area playgrounds:
1.) Peter Pan Park (Westminster)
My 3-year-old's favorite playground is Westminster's Center Park (or Peter Pan Park); a HUGE pirate/Neverland/London-themed playground that features not only epic slides and equipment, but a fun splash pad as well.
2.) Westlands Park (Greenwood Village)
Recently showcased in Landscape Architecture Magazine, Westlands is truly an architectural marvel that houses a variety of equipment for toddlers all the way up to teens! (In addition to Landscape Architecture Magazine, Westlands Park has also been recognized by 5280, Denver Post, and the former Rocky Mountain News.)
3.) Belleview Park (Englewood)
Not only does Belleview have a large and colorful playground, they also boast a number of other fun seasonal activities like train rides, a petting zoo, and more.
4.) Discovery Park (Wheat Ridge)
Just like the name states, Discovery Park is chock-full of exciting discovery opportunities, including their hands-on play areas, sand box, and picturesque splash pads (pictured). The best part of all? Admission to this (and all other public parks) is always FREE!
5.) E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park (Northglenn)
North Denver's destination for playground fun is that of E.B. Rains; a beautiful park and playground dedicated to the memory of a fallen city police officer. (One of our favorite features of the park? The special sensory playground for kids of all ages.)
6.) Mestizo-Curtis Park (Denver Northwest)
You know Curtis Park for its pool... but did you know that it also has a large playground (with a soft and squishy landing) with killer views of downtown? Now you do!
