With all the elevation changes around Portland, there are some truly stunning places to take in views. For the best of scenic overlooks, you will have to get up high and these local spots are just the places to do it. Climb, ride or drive to these amazing spots to add a bit of ‘wow’ to your day.
1. Mt. Tabor
Mt Tabor is a beautiful natural area to enjoy, and once you reach its top, you have a wonderful view of downtown in the distance and the surrounding neighborhoods.
2. Pittock Mansion
High in the West Hills, the Pittock Mansion was designed with this view in mind. Looking directly over the city, this quiet vista a great spot for taking pictures and taking in the view.
3. Council Crest
Also in the West Hills, this 1,071-foot high vantage point is perfect for viewing the city to its fullest.
4. Portland International Rose Test Garden
Along with great views, the rose garden also features a lovely aroma from its 550 species of roses, making the view even better.
5. Portland Aerial Tram
For stunning 365-degree views of the city, the aerial tram can't be beat. Along with the breathtaking 4-minute ride each way, the upper platform offers some amazing views of the city.
6. Powell Butte
Take the loop hike around the park for a couple of great vistas that will give you stunning views of all the surrounding mountains on a clear day.
7. Noble Rot
If you want a great view, but without all the hiking, head up to Noble Rot's 4th floor wine bar for a great view and intimate setting.
8. Rocky Butte
Sitting on an extinct cinder cone, Rocky Butte, rises up in NE Portland for an excellent view of the surrounding areas and mountains.
9. Cathedral Park
There are plenty of great river views here, and if you head over the bridge on foot you can see for miles in each direction, making this one of the most stunning places to view the city.
10. Departure
For some of the best downtown views without any of the hiking, Departure's rooftop bar is the place to go. Enjoy an amazing Asian-fusion meal and take in the incredible view as one.
