The site of one America’s most horrific moments is rumored to be haunted. There have been reports of footsteps rushing to the box where Lincoln was shot, sounds of gunshot and screams. It’s been said that on more than one occasion the ghost of Mary Todd Lincoln has been seen leaning over the box’s railing and pointing toward the stage.

The Capitol Building has several ghosts. One is a construction worker who was part of the crew that built the building who took a nap in partially constructed foundation and was trapped in a tomb of stone when they accidentally laid more of the foundation around him. There have been reports of pounding and scratching from within walls. There is also a famous story of a demon cat who has been seen lurking around the building for decades.

The White House might be the most haunted place in DC. Mary Todd Lincoln and Harry Truman reported hearing Andrew Jackson muttering and stomping around. Known as "The President’s Church," St John’s has served as the church of the White House for 200 years. The story goes that when the church bells toll for the death of a notable person, six ghosts in white robes appear at midnight in the President’s Pew.

President Woodrow Wilson was buried at the Washington National Cathedral and it’s been said you can see him walking the halls of the church and tapping his cane against the walls.
