Every year, thousands of tourists come to Arkansas to see some of our most beautiful places and eat at our most famous restaurants. They usually head straight for Hot Springs National Park, Mammoth Spring State Park and Mount Magazine. All these spots are definitely worth a visit, but there are other gorgeous places here that only locals know about. If you want to avoid the tourists this summer, but still see some of the Natural State’s most stunning beauty, check out these 11 places.
1. William E. "Bill" Clark Presidential Park Wetlands Boardwalk, Little Rock
Wow! Did you know that there are 13 acres of preserved wetlands right in the middle of our capital city? Take a stroll along this boardwalk, which puts you right in the middle of the wetlands. You'll find it at 1200 President Clinton Avenue, right in Little Rock.
2. Lost Valley Recreation Area, Near Ponca
People pass up this little spot, but that's a real mistake - it's a pretty little gem! Explore the two-mile hiking trail which takes you past Eden Falls Cave and Eden Falls, and don't miss the cool rock formations and waterfalls. You'll find Lost Valley Recreation Area near Ponca, along Highway 43.
