1. Go! Gyro! Go!
Every country has its own iconic flavor profile, but Greek food is unique and central to the whole culture. When you find an eatery that serves amazing, traditional Greek food, it really is a treasure. Go! Gryo! Go! Is just that: a treasure. This food truck sells incredible dishes that would make you swear that there is a whole team of loving yia-yias hiding in there, whipping up old family favorites.
Keep an eye out for the distinctive white and blue Go! Gyro! Go! food truck around town - they move around, but often show up downtown around the Wash U. medical campus around lunch time.
2. Guerrilla Street Food
The sheer awesomeness of Guerrilla Street Food isn’t a secret; this fantastic food truck was featured on an episode of Food Network’s "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" and some even consider Guerrilla Street Food one of the top food trucks in the nation! They serve up Filipino street food made with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, which definitely deserve the numerous awards they have won for their unforgettable dishes.
Keep up with the Guerrilla Street Food truck's whereabouts through Twitter
@guerrillastreet. If you just can’t wait for the truck to roll up, they also have a brick-and-mortar restaurant at 3559 Arsenal St, St. Louis, MO.
3. Cha Cha Chow
Everything on the Cha Cha Chow menu is locally grown, completely homemade, and PACKED with flavor. You really can taste the difference of the fresh ingredients, and their prices are awesome for the quality and portions you get. The street tacos are delicious, but the fries… we don’t even know even start with the fries… we think the secret ingredient in the seasoning just might be pure magic.
The bright yellow Cha Cha Chow truck moves around, but regularly hangs out around City Garden and Barnes-Jewish Hospital at lunchtime. If you aren’t in the area, but still want to taste the Cha Cha Chow magic, they also have a brick-and-mortar space at 4916 Shaw Ave., St. Louis, MO.
4. Slice of the Hill
It’s hard NOT to love pizza, but we all know that some pizza is just better. Slice of the Hill’s pizza is so good, we almost think it deserves a whole other food category because comparing it to regular ol’ pizza just isn’t fair to the other pizza spots in town. While they do serve up all of your standard favorites, you definitely should try something off of their ever-changing menu of specials, which includes a terrific Prosciutto & Fresh Sage pie. Other excellent choices: the St. Louis Style (a meat lover’s dream on a crispy crust) and the Pizza Carbonara (grilled chicken and bacon with a garlic cream sauce).
It’s hard to miss this red, white, and green truck! They travel all around the St. Louis area, but you can keep up with their daily locations on Twitter
@SliceoftheHill.
5. Completely Sauced
This Creole/Cajun food truck is truly something special. Everything is made from scratch using deliciously fresh ingredients and these mobile chefs definitely do justice to the vibrant New Orleans cuisine that inspires their epic dishes. You can’t go wrong with one of their awesome po’ boy sandwiches and never pass up the Jambalaya!
6. The Meltdown
There’s nothing quite like a perfectly cooked grilled cheese with a steaming hot cup of soup, but The Meltdown takes simple comfort food and steps up the sandwich game tenfold with their (almost) unbelievably delicious dishes. The Meltdown’s menu includes everything from a classic grilled cheese to some truly fantastic sandwich creations (the Bacon Melt is never a bad decision and the Garber is a fan favorite), all of which can be made into quesadillas if you are looking to cut down on carbs. We’re not the only fans of these epic grilled cheeses though; The Meltdown hauls in "People’s Choice" awards and recognitions all the time (and they definitely deserve them!)
The Meltdown makes frequent appearances at local food and food truck events, but you can keep track of the truck’s day-to-day whereabouts on Twitter
@TheMeltdownSTL.
7. Lulu’s Local Eatery
Lulu’s Local Eatery proves that you NEVER need to sacrifice flavor in vegetarian/vegan cooking. They have an impressive menu with tons of tasty options, all handmade using farm-fresh local and organic ingredients. The Sweet Potato Falafel is definitely a must-taste!
You can follow track the food truck on Twitter
@lulusfoodtruck or visit the brick-and-mortar location at 3201 South Grand St., St. Louis, MO.
8. The Cheese Shack
Yeah, yeah, we know… two grilled cheese trucks on one list (we must be craving comfort food today), but you just can’t deny greatness. Plus, The Cheese Shack is known for WAY more than just grilled cheese sandwiches. The Mac & Cheese Balls are absolutely out-of-this-world and they have some of the best tots in town! The Bruschetta Melt is shining star on The Cheese Shack’s menu, but the Buffalo Melt is a close second. Mmm….
The Cheese Shack is almost always around for Food Truck Friday, and you can keep track of other appearances by The Cheese Shack on Twitter
@cheeseshack_stl.
9. Seoul Taco Food Truck
Korean-Mexican tacos? Yes, please! Seoul Taco does fusion food right; they combine everything we love about both Korean and Mexican cuisine into incredibly delicious and truly unique creations that always seem to hit the spot. Seoul Taco has a short menu, but the focus is definitely on quality over quantity (in menu length only - their burritos and Gogi bowls are definitely filling!)
You can keep up with the Seoul Taco Food Truck on Twitter
@SeoulTaco or visit their restaurant location at 6665 Delmar Blvd., Saint Louis, MO! Seoul Taco is so awesome that their fame has spread beyond St. Louis… they also have locations at Mizzou, as well as in Chicago and Champaign, IL!
