Are you ready for the biggest shock of the week? It’s winter in Colorado, which means there is A LOT of snow on the ground! Okay, okay, so maybe this piece of unnecessary info doesn’t come as a huge surprise, but here is something that might: You may be be sore from all of that shoveling you have had to do, but this town in Colorado has it worse, as they get even more snow than anywhere else in the state:
You know them for their epic ski and outdoor recreational opportunities, but did you also know that the scenic mountain town of Crested Butte also gets more snow than any other place in Colorado?
If you thought you had it bad, listen to this: Over the last two weeks, the small town has received nearly 100 inches of snow, which lead to the surprising closures of both Western State Colorado University...
...and Crested Butte Mountain Resort.
How can you possibly close a ski resort because of snow? As per Crested Butte Resort's Facebook , "Well folks, we officially #buriedthebutte. Due to the safety concern for our guests and employees, we are closing all lift operations for the day. We apologize for any inconveniences and Patrol and Mountain Ops are working as hard as they can to get up and running tomorrow."
Fortunately, most area businesses have re-opened since last week's closures but are bracing themselves for this week's forecasted storms.
That's right, folks: It is actually possible to get more than 100 inches in a matter of weeks... crazy, right?
