So, you’re thinking about picking up and moving to Indiana? Or perhaps, you have just graduated school and you are trying to figure out where’s the best place in your state to settle down? It’s easy to think anywhere in Indiana is going to be more or less the same in terms of employment, but that really isn’t the case. If you’re looking for a place of employment, here are the ten best cities for getting a job in this state.
This city, located just an hour south of the capital, may have been named after all of the beautiful flowers in the state, but it also has a blooming economy and education. The average household income in this city is $26,925. You may not see that as a very high number, but to people who live on minimum wage, it's a pretty nice place to start.
The population of Avon is roughly 12,500 people. The average unemployment rate is 4.2 percent and the average household income in this city is $72,400. The tax income rate of 4.8% is a lot higher than the other cities in Indiana, but that average household income is certainly nothing to be ashamed of.

The average household income in Lebanon is $44,763. It has the 9th lowest unemployment rate in the state and a pretty high job growth rate too. This is a city that is known for being exceptionally friendly. It's a great place to look for a job if you're shy because the people here are very considerate.
In New Haven, the average household income is roughly $48,649. This is one of those places where people get a job and keep it forever. It's a place to feel secure in the position you have. It also ranks pretty high in future job growth.
You can find Jeffersonville just across from the beautiful Ohio River. If you drive too far, you might end up in Kentucky – so be careful. Unfortunately, the city does have a slightly higher unemployment rate than some of the other cities in this state. However, it has a nice average household income of $50,289. Work One and Indiana Tech offer a lot of great job opportunities to people in Jeffersonville.
In terms of job growth, Columbus comes in first place in the state of Indiana. The biggest downside to living in this city is the high income taxes at 4.6%. The average household income is $52,559 which is not that far off from Jasper. I don’t know about you, but I would be happy making $50,000 a year.
Jasper comes in 3rd place in the state in terms of unemployment rate. The average household income for Jasper is roughly $52,691. The low job growth rate is one of the biggest reasons why Jasper isn't higher up on this list.

You can find Greenwood just 20 minutes south of Indianapolis. The working age population in this city goes up just about every year. The average household income in this city is roughly $54,029.
Plainfield is a pretty comfortable little town located just 25 minutes from Indianapolis. The unemployment rate is 5.3% which is lower than the state average. The average household income for Plainfield is roughly $56,883 and the average monthly cost to a homeowner is between $1,200 and $1,300.
The average household income in Crown Point is roughly $61,300. This is a great city to check out if you're looking for a higher health care position with companies such as Burrell Cancer Center, Pinnacle Hospital, and St. Anthony Health.
There're a lot of big companies in Noblesville waiting to employee you including: Perkins Logistics, Helmer Scientific, and Pharmakon LTC Pharmacy. The average household income in Noblesville is $68,166.
Westfield has a population of 30,000 people and the average income is $88,902, which is not that far off from Fishers in third place. The city brags about having a low unemployment rate (which is the 5th lowest in the state) and a very strong rate of job growth (which has been ranked at 8th in the state.)

Fishers ranks high on the list because of all the big companies in the city. It doesn’t hurt that it has the lowest unemployment rate in Indiana and an average household income of a little more than $92,000. Fanne Mae and the local school system are the two big employers in this city.
Zionsville has a population of 23,000 people. The average income of this city is $104,455 which is surprisingly not that far off from Carmel. Most people agree the best part of this cozy town is the downtown area. The downtown area is paved completely out of brick and there's always a lot going on.
Most people really aren't going to be surprised to see Carmel as number one on this list. Growing up, this was always the side of town my family went trick-or-treating on because you would get the best candy (they give whole candy bars!) This is the side of town that was known as the "rich" one. Carmel’s average household income is $107,505, and that tells me one thing – I will probably never live there.
