If there’s any piece of America we wish we could get back, Route 66 would definitely be in our top ten. There are few places that create a feeling of freedom, adventure and American identity quite like it. Thankfully, Arizona is home to one of the largest stretches of the highway that still exists and we decided that a good way to honor it would be through food.
Here are 13 restaurants that have either stood the test of time—managing to survive the low points many towns along Route 66 suffered when the Interstate replaced the highway—or that recreate that atmosphere of the old highway.
