Climbing or hiking Sugarloaf Mountain has been a very popular pastime for generations of residents of Heber Springs and surrounding areas. Sugarloaf Mountain rises 690 feet above the fertile valley just east of the city of Heber Springs. It formed as an erosional remnant by the Little Red River.
Shinall Mountain, elevation 1,056 ft, is located near the Chenal Valley neighborhood of Little Rock, in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains. It's the highest point in Pulaski County.

Pinnacle Mountain has an elevation of 1,011 feet. It rises over 750 feet above the nearby Arkansas River, which sits at about 250 feet above mean sea level. Pinnacle Mountain State Park itself is located just over a mile from the northwest edge of Little Rock, in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains.

Mount Magazine is the tallest mountain in the state of Arkansas and is the site of Mount Magazine State Park. The mountain is a flat-topped plateau with a sandstone cap rimmed by precipitous rock cliffs. Two peaks are situated atop the plateau, Signal Hill, which is often identified as the tallest point in Arkansas, and Mossback Ridge, which reaches 2,700 feet.
