There is nothing more Americana than a good old fashioned main street… wouldn’t you agree? But do you want to know what is even better than just a “regular” main street? A main street adorned in bright lights and festive decor! Fortunately, there is plenty of that to go around here in the Sunflower State, including these 11 Kansas main streets that are pure magic during Christmastime:
1. Cottonwood Falls
Is there anything more picturesque than festive greenery alongside historic buildings (with gently falling snow)? We didn't think so either.
2. WaKeeney
With its 6,000 glistening lights and 4-blocks of gorgeous decor, it is no wonder the "The Christmas City of the High Plains" makes all of our Christmas lists!
3. Fort Scott
It isn't only the streets themselves that get dressed up for the Christmas season... so do all of the historic buildings and various businesses! (Pictured is the town's stunning First Presbyterian Church.)
4. Hays
After shopping around the downtown boutiques and enjoying dinner and drinks at the world famous Gella's Diner & Lb. Brewing Co., make plans to stroll around the lovely Chestnut Street District.
5. Derby
If the bright lights of the big city just aren't your thing, head southwest to Derby, which offers classic light displays within a smaller setting.
6. Lawrence
On the flip side, if you think bigger is better, you are sure to go head-over-heels for the dazzling lights along the iconic Massachusetts Street.
7. St. Francis
With its magical strands of light, parades, and one-of-a-kind shops, the streets of St. Francis, Kansas are truly the place to be this holiday season!
8. Norton
Throughout the season, the city of Norton offers a number of Christmas festivities including a community dinner, Santa visits, and even an arts & crafts fair.
9. Lindsborg
Do you have the itch to travel but just can't afford to do so? Don't stress out; just drive to Little Sweden, U.S.A., which offers a number of authentic Swedish events during this most wonderful time of the year.
10. Smith Center
If you think this picture of the original Old Dutch Mill looks beautiful all aglow, wait until you see in person...
11. Belleville
Let's just say that you never know what you will find (or who you will see) along this unique town's Main Street!
