Some of Montana’s more well-known restaurants tend to get most of the attention (we’re looking at you, Sir Scott’s Oasis). And while they’re certainly worthy of people’s praise, we’ve also got plenty of more under-the-radar restaurants that will cook you a delicious and unforgettable meal. These are a few of our unsung heroes, the places that don’t always get all the attention they deserve.
The Rustic Hut may be a dive bar, but they happen to serve some of the best stick-to-your-ribs bar food in the area. This isn’t the place to go on a fancy date night, and admittedly the service can be a bit slow―but your prime rib dinner, wrap with fries, or juicy burger will more than make up for it.

The Billings food scene has really come a long way over the years, with new gastro pubs popping up serving some seriously delicious entrees. Local is definitely well-loved by the people who have tried it, but their commitment to using only locally sourced high quality ingredients and supporting local charities makes them worthy of even more praise.
River City Grill made a national list of the most underrated restaurants in every state. They serve classic and hearty home cooked meals from an unpretentious historic building.
Miles City is one of the bigger "small towns" in Eastern Montana, but it’s not exactly known for its food scene. But the Black Iron Grill can always be counted on for a delicious steak or pasta dinner and good service.

The Mint is an iconic establishment in the charming little city of Belgrade, and most of the locals already know about its amazing food. But if you’re just passing through, you might be fooled by its unpretentious exterior and no-frills atmosphere. But the steak and chops here are just as delicious as the nearby Sir Scott’s Oasis Steakhouse in Manhattan.
