J.B. Weisenfels has lived in rural Arkansas for three decades. She is a writer, a mom, and a graduate student. She is also an avid collector of tacky fish whatnots, slightly chipped teapots, and other old things. In her spare time she enjoys driving to the nearest creek to sit a while. If you were to visit her, she'd try to feed you cornbread.
Once an oil boomtown, El Dorado is now a thriving south Arkansas city with a population of 18,491. That’s about a mid-sized city by Arkansas standards, but make no mistake, this city still feels like a small town. Located close to the Arkansas-Louisiana state line, El Dorado is not only located in the proud Southern Natural State, but just about as far south as south goes in that state. El Dorado is the quintessential Southern city not only because of its location, but because it also has everything you’d want in a Southern town: friendly folks, an adorable downtown area, a small town atmosphere, and an incredibly picturesque setting.
El Dorado is located in Union County. To find directions, click here.
