The bridge under your feet is the oldest bridge in South Carolina. At one point it was the main road between Columbia and Saluda Mountain. It's only open to foot traffic now.

The kind folks at SC State Parks appreciate it when you don't confuse this soothing sanctuary with one of their state parks that has a very similar name. Poinsett State Park is located several hours from Poinsett Bridge so you can imagine how confusing the two of them will only serve to frustrate you.

If you are Googling your own directions then be sure the location you're headed to is in Landrum, not Wedgefield.
