It is no secret that the state of Rhode Island tends to attract ghosts. With its rich history and numerous old landmarks, you can find ghosts pretty much all over the state. Possibly the most famous haunted destination is the eerie farmhouse in Burrillville that inspired the movie The Conjuring, yet many other places remain. There is one college campus in Providence with a series of ghost stories and hauntings that are so scary, you’ll be surprised the campus is still standing.
Rhode Island School of Design's sprawling campus is situated in the historically rich College Hill area of Providence. This section of the city features stunning architecture and lovely sites.
While RISD is internationally acclaimed and considered one of the greatest destinations for arts educations, the college is also considered a hot spot for paranormal activity.
Founded in 1877, it is alleged that many of the buildings were built upon family graveyards, with many of the ghosts originating from these former private residences.
Several reports of glowing orbs and other ghostly sightings have been linked to Nightengale House. Some students have even claimed they were pushed down stairs by invisible hands.
RISD might be a little spooky, but the stunning campus is definitely still worth visiting! The RISD Museum in particular is one of the state's most spectacular places to see art.
